The Stained Glass Museum is a renowned institution dedicated to showcasing the exquisite artistry of British stained glass. Located in a historic building, this museum offers visitors a unique opportunity to engage with and appreciate the intricate beauty of stained glass artwork up close. Unlike in churches, where stained glass windows are often positioned high up and at a distance, the museum allows for a more intimate and immersive experience. The collection features a diverse array of Western-style stained glass pieces, each one meticulously curated to highlight the craftsmanship and storytelling of this art form. While the museum may be small in size, it offers a rich and captivating exploration of stained glass history and design. With its creative use of space and a focus on educational exhibits, the Stained Glass Museum is a must-visit for art enthusiasts, history buffs, and anyone seeking to be inspired by the beauty and ingenuity of this timeless art form.
Reviews
A rare opportunity to examine exquisite British Stained Glass art close up. Normally Stained Glass windows in churches are high up and far away. Here, you can gaze in intimate rapture.
A decent collection and curation of some decades old stained glasses. It’s a very creative, cool use of the used-to-be storage place, also. Given the scale and character of the exhibition, the admission fee could be a little lower though.
An interesting museum, but honestly not worth the money. ¥1000 for two rooms of stained glass art in an admittedly nice historic building is too much. There are multiple museums in walking distance which are also housed in historical buildings, have other art+stained glass, and way more content for around ¥700.
We didn’t pay for the museum after I read all the reviews about it, the museum is expensive, 1000¥ just to see stained glass ( if you visit any Catholic Church you can see them for free) and actually all stores around have cool glass pieces that you can observe for free and even buy
Nothing very special - stained glass is stained glass. Quite a small space, so I'm not sure about the value of the admission fee. I wouldn't go out of my way but if you feel like looking at stained glass and how it's made, why not? It was quite interesting and the pieces were nice to look at.
Worth a visit if you’re in the area. The museum is small and easy to view all the stained glass displays. Lots of beautiful and interesting western style stained glass.
Humble setting in a beautiful old well restored warehouse. Good display where you can study the details up close. Good demonstration of the making of stained glass too
The most interesting fact is that the stained glass is from the UK. Otherwise this feels more of an attraction for non-European visitors perhaps.
